Today we have an exciting completed project to share with you – Charles Luck Stone Center at 1111 34th St. NW in Georgetown. Some of the uniquely interesting pieces of our work here were our client, the historical property that now houses their showroom, and LEED certification for the project.
Charles Luck was founded in 1923 by Charles S. Luck Jr. with a single quarry on the West End of Richmond, Va. Three generations have led the family-owned and operated business that produces natural stone products, crushed stone, sand and gravel. Of their eight showrooms, Georgetown is the first in a metro location and Paradigm Homes was excited to be a part of the achievement of this storefront.
The building, in the Cady’s Alley neighborhood, was built in the late 1800s as a stable. The historical element added to the excitement surrounding the project.
We are proud of our involvement in this LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified space. Some of the elements involved in the certification were:
*20% of the materials used were regionally sourced.
*10% of the materials in construction were from recycled sources
*The installed equipment and appliances are 100% energy star qualified.
*Plumbing fixtures reduce water usage by approximately 35%
*Low-emitting materials were used throughout the space including paints, flooring, furniture, and sealants.
*Large, operable windows allow both the use of natural light and air flow and save on utilities.
Charles Luck Georgetown will be having an Opening Celebration June 13th, 2012. If you’re in the market for warm, beautiful, natural stone products, this is the place to go. And we hope you’ll admire the work we’ve done while you’re there!
