This Custom Home in Annandale, Virginia, blends two beautiful styles of home: Craftsman and Modern Farmhouse.
As we approach the home, you can’t help but appreciate the deep ocean blue Hardie plank siding on the home’s exterior. This really pops against the crisp white trim and Craftsman-style windows. The flagstone porch coupled with the cedar porch roof perfectly balance the home’s exterior. These small, but meaningful touches to the exterior sets this Custom Home apart from other non-Custom Homes.
An interesting feature of this home is the dual entryway from inside the two-car garage. You can either enter directly into the over-sized pantry, which is helpful when you arms are full of groceries. Alternatively, you can enter through the mudroom, which provides a perfect drop zone for coats, bags and shoes, etc.
As you walk into the kitchen, you’ll see a large island with an integrated induction cooktop. What you don’t see is the hidden vent, which reveals itself with the touch of a button. This keeps a clean, open look without compromising functionality.
The light and bright kitchen features white cabinets and white quartz countertops and it opens to the family room, which has a one-of-a-kind ornate fireplace. Our clients chose this mantel themselves, and it is a great representation of their sense of style. The open kitchen and living areas are flooded with natural light from the large windows and glass doors that open to the back deck.
A Trex deck welcomes you outside and it offers easy ground-level access to the backyard, thereby offering a space for al fresco dining, just off the living room.
Heading upstairs, you’ll notice the large windows in the stairwell.
This was an intentional choice to bring in as much natural light as possible. At the top of the stairs to the left, there’s a large laundry room, which is directly across from the Owners Suite. Throughout the home, there are unique and fun wallpaper choices, which makes these spaces (hallway walls, secondary bedrooms, Owners En-suite, Powder room, etc.) even more warm and welcoming.
The Owners Suite is a true retreat with the two features that most homebuyers are looking for today: A huge Ensuite bathroom and large walk-in closets.
The Owners En-Suite even has a separate soaking tub and its own linen closet, thereby creating an insulated area of retreat.
Storage is an important element throughout the home.
The creative storage spaces in this home keeps spaces neat and organized. An example of this are the multiple storage nooks tucked into each of the secondary bedroom closets. Whether for their kids or for their kids when they become adults, these closet-nooks offer an area to escape to or an area to store items that are needed less often.
The walkout basement also provides lots of natural light, as well as really cool light fixtures in every room.
There is a bookcase that doubles as the entrance to a secret storage space tucked away at the bottom of the stairs! The basement functions as a secondary living space for guests as well as a social space since it has a rec room, kitchenette, full bathroom, and a workout space.
